Most recently, Mr. Cohen has been serving as the chief financial officer and restructuring advisor during the successful refinancing efforts of an underperforming wholesale gasoline distributor with an affiliated chain of retail gas stations and convenience stores. Companies for which Mr. Cohen has held financial leadership or restructuring advisory roles include Huffy Corporation, GDX Automotive, ShopKo Stores, Eddie Bauer, Mirant, Hayes Lemmerz International, Safety-Kleen, Harnischfeger Industries, Ryder Consumer Truck Rental and others. His work has served as a critical step towards establishing enterprise value, aggregating several billion dollars for a number of distressed businesses that ultimately reorganized under bankruptcy proceedings.
Prior to joining FTI in March 2006, Mr. Cohen spent over nine years serving clients of AlixPartners and portfolio companies of its affiliated private equity group, Questor. Prior to AlixPartners and Questor, Mr. Cohen served in senior financial officer roles in a variety of industries, including printing, publishing, cable television operations/programming and nursing homes.
Mr. Cohen holds a B.S. in accounting from the University of Maryland. He is a certified public accountant and a certified insolvency and restructuring advisor. He is a member of the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants, Financial Executives International and Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors. In addition, Mr. Cohen has been serving on the audit committee of a major Maryland charitable organization for more than 10 years. |
